Creating and Re-purposing Live Content for Instagram Success

Re-purposing your carefully curated, beautifully penned content is all the rage these days. As video marketing becomes an increasingly popular tactic for businesses of all sizes and niches, recorded content is also being given a new lease of life through re-purposing. With Facebook and Instagram Stories only growing in popularity, video re-purposing  is showing no signs of slowing. But for the countless businesses that use Stories to engage with and increase their follower bases, fewer go ‘Live’ to achieve the same results. 

Instagram Live is an excellent tool for marketing your company a little further afield. Whilst Live offers no room for retakes, which can make it a little more daunting than simply publishing a pre-recorded video, getting Live right is a beautiful thing, and one that helps businesses achieve a number of traffic increasing, rank boosting results. As with your written and video content, content used to go live can be re-purposed to unlock further SEO benefits. Read on to discover the golden rules of creating and re-purposing Instagram Live content and use live video to your advantage.

Set the scene

Live videos may be known for their authenticity, but portraying an element of professionalism is still important. Set the scene by using the right equipment to capture your live video. A tripod is an excellent investment, even for those going live from their smartphones. Think about your lighting too. No one likes a dark and dull video, or, at the other end of the spectrum, a bright, blinding experience. Use natural light as much as you can, checking light levels before you hit record.

Get your audio right

Your audio should be high quality; after all, how can you communicate successfully with your audience if they can’t hear you clearly. If you are using a smartphone, tablet or camera to capture your live content, make sure the on-board mic delivers. If it doesn’t, invest in a professional microphone to perfect your audio offering.

Don’t be afraid to re-purpose

With Instagram Live videos now not able to be replayed or shared after broadcast, Live offers the perfect opportunity to re-purpose your video content. As well as covering the subject matter you shared the first time around at a later date if it becomes relevant again, recording your live video for further distribution is recommended. This video or audio can be distributed across your other social media networks and YouTube for greater audience reach.
